What’s involved with this role:
The post involves supporting the Scrutiny Research Team with a wide variety of research tasks in support of the work programmes of Scrutiny Committees.
To contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive Research Service for Scrutiny.
To assist Research Team members in designing, conducting and managing specific research projects central to the work programme of Scrutiny committees.
Support Research Team members in managing complex research projects.
To assist in carrying out complex qualitative and quantitative research using primary and secondary information sources as appropriate.
To design small scale and less complex research projects under supervision.
To use both qualitative and quantitative approaches to undertake small pieces of work and carry out analytical tasks under direction.
Assist with secondary data collection for qualitative and quantitative research projects (including reviews of data and literature using resources such as specialist resource books, the internet and various libraries when necessary).
Assist in carrying out primary qualitative and quantitative research. (for example, helping organise and run focus groups and in-depth interviews; transcribing interviews; contributing to the overall design of surveys; recruiting samples; mailing out of large scale surveys; developing and maintaining of databases; collating and tracking of data; conducting follow up work to increase response rates; clustering and coding of data and carrying out initial analysis).
To check information/evidence for accuracy and validity, e.g., checking interim research reports.
Assist with report writing and presenting research findings.
Be responsible for dissemination of research findings to research participants and a wider audience.
Support a Principal Research Officer in maintaining and developing the Members Library.

UK working experience

Anticipated Length of Assignment: All of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis. This opening assignment is for 2 months.
Hours per week: 35-37 (tbc) Monday – Friday, normal working hours
